Blue Grey roofing slates from Welsh Slate’s newly re-opened Ffestiniog quarry feature alongside decorative aggregates and Breedon Golden Amber self-binding gravel from Breedon Special Aggregates on the RBC Brewin Dolphin Garden designed by acclaimed garden designer Paul Hervey-Brookes.
His garden theme reflects the passing down of knowledge from generation to generation. Built by GK Wilson Landscapes, it also features 4” and 6” solid concrete blocks from Breedon’s Wickwar site, building sand from Severn Sands, standard bagged cement, and MOT-type aggregate from its Dowlow site.
Paul Hervey-Brookes also mentored two container and balcony gardens using Breedon Special Aggregates materials - The Shifting Garden and The Hampdon Stargart Garden. The Shifting Garden was designed by The Chelsea Gardener to maximise the limited space of typical urban gardens and uses 14mm Cotswold Buff decorative aggregate from Breedon’s Holme Hall site.
The Hampdon Stargart Garden was built by Sebastian Brand and designed by Joanne Edmonds and Camilla Windsor-Clive as a sensory healing space for visually impaired people. It uses Breedon Golden Amber.
The fourth garden is the Talitha Arts Garden designed by Carey Garden Design to recognise the therapeutic effect the creative arts can have. It was built by Landcraft, also using 14mm Cotswold Buff.
All the decorative aggregates from Breedon Special Aggregates can be bought online from www.ukstonedirect.com. In addition, Breedon’s acclaimed Breedon Golden Amber and decorative aggregates can be purchased directly from www.breedon-special-aggregates.co.uk, while Golden Amber can also be purchased from www.ukstonedirect.com.
